Good Neighbor Day

We did it! #GoodNeighborDayCP

In 2022, Good Neighbor Day projects united the community, and university students, staff, faculty, and alumni, in enhancing College Park and beyond. With your support, we completed 36 critical, resident-identified projects, 3 supply drives, and 6 workshops. We championed sustainability, mental health, public health, veteran and aging resident support, food security, and social justice.

Together, we:

• Raised more than $12,000 in monetary donations, including a donation match of $5,000 from Terrapin Development Company, in benefit of the College Park Community Food Bank and the UMD Campus Pantry
• Collected more than 2,500 pounds of food
• Packed over 17,000 meals to benefit Capital Area Food Bank at IKEA, College Park
• Collected and distributed more than 1,000 children’s books to over 15 local tiny libraries
• Provided and built 1 tiny library for a local elementary school
• Engaged more than 800 registrants and more than 150 workshop participants
• Planted 200 trees and more than 2400 pollinator plants
• Removed more than 60,000 square feet of invasive species
• Removed more than 2600 pounds of litter
• Transcribed 86 archival documents
