Neighbors Helping Neighbors of College Park

What to Expect: Needs vary and include transportation assistance, household and yard chores, house repairs, friendly visits, and phone check-ins.
Hyattsville Aging in Place
Where: Hyattsville
When: Ongoing, various
What to Expect: Volunteers can pick their level of engagement
- Become a volunteer driver and take neighbors to medical appointments, grocery stores, HAP events, or run other errands.
- Perform small tasks around the house or yard, such as moving furniture, shoveling snow, or mowing the lawn.
- Check in on neighbors through the HAP phone tree or regular “friendly visits.”
- Help plan HAP programs, such as the Valentine-making party, Smart Aging Fair, and more
University of Maryland Capital Region DV/SA Center
Where: University of Maryland, 1110 Stamp Student Union, College Park
When: 24 hours a month for 1 year
What to Expect: The DV/SA Center is a comprehensive service provider, providing free and confidential services, 24/7, forensic exams, as well as crisis, counseling, and advocacy services. Volunteers provide support for victims at the hospital and in court. All training provided.

Latino Student Fund

What to Expect:
- Tutoring in Math or Reading
- Learning materials are provided
- Help strengthen what PreK-12th students have already learned and stay on top of new material they are learning
College Park Community Food Bank Food Distribution
Where: 9704 Rhode Island Avenue in College Park, Maryland
When: Every Friday and Saturday
What to Expect:
- Friday: Sorting Food Donations
- Saturday: Distributing Food Donations
College Park Meals on Wheels
Where: Elks Lodge, 6700 Kenilworth Avenue, Riverdale, MD
When: Monday - Friday, 7 AM-10 AM (Food Prep) and 10:30 AM-12 PM (Meal Delivery)
What to Expect:
- Preparing food, delivering meals, chatting, and building relationships with seniors
Catholic Charities Food Distribution – Riverdale Park, MD
Where: St. Bernard Church, 5700 St. Bernard Drive, Riverdale MD
When: Every 2nd Tuesday, 12:30 PM
What to Expect:
- Unload the food truck and bring boxes of food to the sites
- Stay on to help distribute food
- Provide your own transportation
- Be able to lift and carry 15 lbs. repeatedly
- Wear a mask and maintain social distancing
Catholic Charities Food Distribution - Landover, MD

What to Expect:
- Convene at the SHARE Warehouse and will be transported to the food distribution site

Capital Area Food Bank: Prince George's Community Marketplace

What to Expect:
- Help provide emergency groceries and nutrition education to residents
- Heavy lifting

Catholic Charities' St. Maria’s Meals Tuesday Dinner

What to Expect:
- Set up and breakdown of the event
- Share stories, smiles, and words of encouragement with participants!

Riversdale House Museum Tour Guide
Where: 4811 Riverdale Road, Riverdale Park
When: Ongoing, flexible
What to Expect:
- Lead tours for groups and individuals who are visiting the Riversdale House Museum.
- Tours will include the home of the Calvert family, as well as the enslaved and paid workforce who labored there
- Volunteers with more than one shift per year must complete a criminal background check, including being fingerprinted before volunteer service can begin.
Riversdale Garden Aid

What to Expect:
- Learn about gardening on the grounds of a restored early 19th century manor house. Assist the head gardener in planting, watering, weeding, harvesting in beautiful gardens abundant in flowers, fruits, vegetable and herbs.
Eastern Bluebird Nestbox Monitor - Patuxent River Park
Where: 16000 Croom Airport Rd, Upper Marlboro, MD
When: Ongoing, flexible
What to Expect:
- Provide routine maintenance and re-installation of Bluebird Nesting Boxes prior to and during every nesting season (spring-summer)
- Help collect important data.

What to Expect:
- Projects that focus on sustainability, conservation, and making habitats better for native plants.

Neighborhood Design Center: Eagle Harbor Landscape Beautification

What to Expect:
- Exploring appropriate plant and landscape choices that best reflect heritage and community aspirations.
Requirements:
- Landscape designer or horticulturist
- Interest in African American cultural heritage
National Alliance on Mental Illness Prince George's County
