Day to Serve Month in Maryland
The Day to Serve Program, an initiative declared by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, encourages all Marylanders to choose at least one day between September 11 and October 31 to participate in or host a volunteer activity. In response to this year’s public health challenges, for the first time, opportunities to volunteer will be available both in person and remotely. Employees will be eligible for four hours of paid administrative leave for service performed as part of this program.
UMD faculty and staff seeking volunteer opportunities are encouraged to email OCE for recomendations, or check the Day to Serve event map periodically, as events will continue to be added. Volunteer service event organizers are asked to register events on the Day to Serve webpage.
After you participate, we want to hear about your experience! Please submit a brief summary of your service opportunity that includes the number of volunteers, hours of work, and a description to the Office of Community Engagement at email@example.com. This will allow us to showcase UMD’s commitment to the Day to Serve.
