Who: Each year, a diverse group of college and university administrators, city officials, and campus neighbors convene to collaborate on topics impacting campuses and the communities in which they reside. 

Presented by: The University of Maryland, the City of College Park, the College Park City University Partnership, and the International Town and Gown AssociationTM.

Conference theme: Our theme, The Power of Partnerships: Solving Grand Challenges Together, underscores our intrinsic connection to surrounding neighborhoods and our shared responsibility to address complex challenges in our local, state, and global communities.

Special Employed in Maryland Registration Fee: $450. Get this rate.

General

ITGA is a global non-profit fostering collaboration between college campuses and communities. They convene gatherings, conduct research, and mobilize efforts to support diverse issues like economic development, sustainability, student housing, diversity, and civic engagement. The annual conference, networking, and regional gatherings keep members informed and engaged.

Our diverse audience and presenters include:

  • Higher education administrators, staff, educators, and students

  • Parking and Transportation personnel
  • City and campus planners
  • Local nonprofit organizations and community organizers
  • Housing authority officials
  • Private Housing Developers

Attending and Presenting

There are three conference tracks:

  • Track 1: Partnerships for the Public Good – Health, Safety and Sustainability
    • Explore the partnerships between cities and universities
    • Community-based strategies to advance health, public safety, and sustainability in communities.
    • Best practices, tools, and resources vital to partnering for the public good.
  • Track 2: Equity, Belonging and Civic Engagement
    • Examine equity, diversity, or inclusion, and explore their significance in the context of culture, environment, life experiences, and the long-term sustainability of inclusivity. 
    • Explore innovative strategies for enhancing the connection (or sense of belonging) between students and local communities, with an emphasis on boosting civic participation both on and off campus.
  • Track 3: Placemaking, Housing and Development
    • Foster discourse on how cities and universities can collaborate to establish vibrant communities that service the needs of employees, students, and residents alike.
    • Discuss on and off-campus housing solutions, neighborhood character considerations, and relationships between permanent residents, landlords/property managers, and students. 
  • 45-minute engaging/interactive presentations with 15 minutes for questions and answers
  • 20-minute TED-Style Talks
  • One to two-hour mobile sessions such as local walking or mobility device tours.
